Thesis: Title IX changed many female’s active lives in the late 1970s. With Title IX it gave females the freedom to bring out their competitive side in sports that they never thought they would play.

Topic Sentence: Women before Title IX were not able to freely play sports without being excluded from, or being denied to right to play just because they are females.
Before Title IX, many graduate schools strictly limited the number of women accepted, often 15 or less. Female students were not allowed to register for some classes such as auto mechanics or criminal justice and male students weren't allowed to take home economics."(Spar).

"Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law prohibiting sexual discrimination in any federally funded institution, stating that “no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance” (Jauss). It lays down what Title IX is and how it came to be. It was signed by Richard Nixon. Also it states some issues because of the certification of title nine.
