Technology Standards associated with Education
ISTE Standards for Students (2016)
Collaborator:
Students use technology to collaborate with others to understand issues from different perspectives.This relates to the
ISTE Standards for Teachers- Collaboration
and the
ICT POS- Collaboration
because they all emphasize the use of collaboration in the use of technology in order to understand others and see success in both themselves and others.
Innovative Designer:
By using a specific process, students are able to work together to create innovative ideas and solve problems.

in that throughout the school system, including students and teachers, innovation is key in the successful implementation of educational technology.
Digital Citizenship:
Students understand and act appropriately, ethically and legally on devices, technology, and in online interactions.

because they both identify the importance of proper use of technology in online interactions and general use.
Computational Thinker:
Separating problems into parts and understanding the information given allows students to understand and solve problems. This relates to the

in that students are expected to use their knowledge of technology to solve problems.
Empowered Learner:
Students are able to choose, use, and fix current technologies and use their understandings to figure out new technologies.

because they both emphasize how students need to be able to use technology to solve problems.

Teachers are able to use various types of assessment to inform their students' learning and their teaching in relation to technology standards and course content. This relates to the

because they both emphasize the importance of teacher competence in technology in education to enhance both their own and students' experiences.

Teachers are role models in digital social interactions in their use of technology.

Within school authorities, innovation in terms of technology throughout schools in classrooms as well as in administration is important and should be decided upon by using research and evidence.
