Technology Standards of Education
ISTE Standards for Teachers
Digital Learning, Development and Evaluation:
Teachers maximize KSA standards by incorporating technological tools to enhance the design, development and evaluation of student learning experiences.
(See green link: given certain leadership that creates and formalizes policies, procedures, teachers have guides and standards to follow that incorporate technological practices, ultimately enhancing student-centered learning)
Digital Age Modelling:
Teachers act as digital models given their technological skills, knowledge and methods.
Teachers demonstrate how to use technology responsibly as well as culturally understanding and encouraging of appropriate digital behaviour.,
*(See yellow link: both encourage appropriate ethical and moral behaviour as digital users.)
Student Learning and Creativity:
Teachers inspire students to be creative thinkers and advanced learners through real world issues, problem solving and innovating thinking.
(See green link to the left: both encourage and support students to become advanced learners through creativity)
Digital Leaders and Professional Growth:
Teachers act as leaders in continuously looking for new and current ways to improve their technological knowledge and practices for the best of their profession
Learning and Technology Policy Framework
Research, Innovation and Digital Enhancement:
Each player in the school environment actively researches, shares and promotes digital enhancement in order to maintain educational growth and progress.
School authorities manage policy and governance to ensure technology maintains innovation and encourages student-centered learning.
(See blue link just below: given leadership that maintains governance and policy, teachers are aware and accountable for professional development that ultimately goes towards student-centered learning)
Active Professional Learners:
Each player in the school environment actively develops their digital knowledge in order to maintain effective, efficient student-centered learning.
(See blue link on the right: both encourage educational professionals to continuously increase and develop their technical knowledge and skills in order to maintain effective practices for their students.)
Student Centered Learning:
Each student is given the support and attention they need in order to become advanced learners.
(See purple link: both allow the student the support and tools they need which ultimately allows them to become advanced learners)
Digital Learning Environment
Technological infrastructure is maintained and reliable so that every individual in the school environment has access to various learning tools and reliable networks to help them grow and progress.
ICT Program of Studies
Digital Communication and Inquiry:
Students will learn to use technology as a tool to communicate and ask questions to a broader community so that they are able to apply their understandings to real-life situations.
Students will learn to use technology ethically and morally which allows them to become knowledgeable and value-based citizens.
(See purple link: both ensure that students respect ethical behaviour when using technology)
Foundational Operations and Knowledge:
Students will learn to understand the nature and affect of technology and how to operate it ethically, safely and ergonomically.
( See green link below: given reliable infrastructure, students are able to understand the nature and effect of various technological tools, and how to maintain a safe and ergonomic learning environment)
Problem Solving and Decision Making:
Students will learn to use technology to their advantage in solving issues and concerns, assessing pertinent information and make valuable decisions ultimately allowing them to apply their skills to real-life situations.
(See purple link: both encourage students to use technology as a tool to help assess and organize information and become problem solvers .)
Processes for Productivity:
Students will learn to use digital tools that will help improve their effectiveness and efficiency in how they approach research and collection of data as well as collaboration and communication. This will ultimately enhance their productivity.
ISTE Standards for Students
Students are able to explore various technological resources and tools for creative and meaningful learning as well as take active roles in achieving their educational goals.
(See green link: given reliable infrastructure, students are able to explore various digital tools in order to progress and grow with their educational goals.)
Students are creative problem solvers and use analytical and design tools in order to research, organize and collect data which will ultimately aid in growth and progression. .
(See green link: both encourage digital creativity and innovation for educational progress)
Students understand their responsibilities and rights as well as practice safe and ethical behaviour.
(See blue link: both ensure students behave ethically and responsibly as digital citizens)
