Way of thinking about problems
1.Fact based
Structrued (MECE)
Mutually Exclusive - Maximum clarity
Collectively Exhaustive - Maximum completeness
To increase the credibility
Compensate lack of common sense
Initial Hypothesis (Building problem-solving map)
Defining Initial Hypothesis (Potential solutions)
Generating Initial Hypothesis (Digging deeper, come up with actions to the issues) by breaking down the issues into smaller components.
Testing Initial Hypothesis
Developing an approach
Is this the real problem? It can be problem Y instead of X as told.
Don't reinvent the wheel.
Every case is unique,. If all you have is a hammer, then every problem looks like a nail.Take enough time to verify your gut with with facts.
Sometimes you have to let the solution come to you, e.g fact based analysis without IH or experience.
20/80 rule, find the key driver, don't boil the ocean. Meaning set up the priority.
Also think about quick wins even before the overall problem can't resolved at once.
Just say "I don't know" when you don't know. Honesty!!!
Way of working to resolve problems
Make your boss look good: do your best for work and keep informed. Be structured when reports.
