-
Stationary: When cold and warm masses meet, but neither has enough force to move each other. It may bring days of clouds and precipitation.
Occluded: Causes the most complex weather situations. Happens when a warm air mass is caught between two cooler air masses.
Air Pressure
Tornadoes: A rapidly whirling, funnel-shaped cloud that extends from a storm cloud and touches the ground. Usually brief, often deadly.
-
Snowstorms: Lots of heavy snowfall that can make roads and sidewalks slippery and can be very dangerous if you're outside.
Layers of the Atmosphere
Troposphere: 0 to 12 km. Rain, snow, storms, and most clouds occur here.

Cumulus: The white, fluffy clouds that indicate fair weather.
Huminity
Rain: The most common form of precipitation. Drops of water are called rain if they are at least 0. millimeters in diameter.
Sleet: When rain falls through a layer of air under 0 degrees Celcius, they freeze into solid particles of ice. If the particles are under 5 millimeters in size, it's called sleet.
Freezing rain: Sleet, but instead of the drops freezing into ice particles in the air, they freeze when they hit a cold surface.
Hail: Sleet, but more than 5 millimeters in size. Only forms inside cumulonimbus clouds during thunderstorms.
Snow: Water vapor in a cloud is converted directly into ice crystals called snowflakes, which fall like rain does.
