Animal Movement and Adaptations
Why/ What causes?
Animals move when its nervous, muscular, skeletal systems work together to form a movement. Helps animals obtain food and shelter.
Dog
Animals On land
Body Muscles: The sidewinding adder snake uses its muscles to lift loops of its body of the hot desert as it moves along.
Foot and Mucus: To move a snail contracts its muscular foot, the foot oozes slippery mucus which makes it easier to move.
Long Legs: An ostrich has long legs . These traits help it run fast.
SOme animals contract its muscles and push against the ground with its body to move
Some animals use jointed appendages to walk
Animals on water
Appendages for swimming
Way harder to move on on land
Some animals that live in water do not swim but move through water in other ways. Sea stars (ex.O have a water vascular system, a system of fluid filled tubes
Streamlined body: Penguins have bodies and winged
Jet Propulsion :Uses muscles to pull water onto its body then shoots out through a narrow tube. This shoots a squid in the opposite directions.
Moving In air
Feathers: Hawks long broad wing feathers provide lifts therefore ablating them to fly very high. Also long surface area of its feathers help the hawk soar.
animals that live in water, on land, or in the air have different adaptations for movement
What does an animal do to move?
an animals nervous system receives a signal from the environment
its nervous system processes the signal
its nervous system signals the muscles, which contract, causing the skeleton to move
