LEGALITY/PROPERTY AND LOCATION

Ensure that all of my work is my own, and that other people's ideas, opinions, or images are referenced using footnotes or in-text referencing as well as a bibliography in the style of Harvard Referencing.

Always ensure that I have consent from people who participate in my research.

Ensure that my research does not put the physical or mental safety of myself or anyone around me at risk.

Follow all of the standard safety regulations when ice skating, such as only performing jumps at training sessions (not public sessions where it is much busier with less experienced skaters). Also watch out for other skaters while you are training.

Debrief with participants before and after interviews or experiments to ensure that no participant has sustained any mental harm such as feeling self conscious because they are unable to do an axle.

Ensure that I am showing sensitivity to all different cultures, politics, genders, socio-economic statuses, and religions, and different levels of skill levels during my research.

Do not exploit the physical or mental weaknesses of other figure skaters. For example, if during an interview with a skater I learn that they have had to see a sports psychologist to control their anxiety in competitions, it would be unethical to reveal this information to another person, and would cause the skater to feel vulnerable.

Ensure that any information that is shared during research (eg. interviews, surveys, or experiments) is kept completely confidential for the safety and comfort of the participant.

Ensure that I am on the premises of the ice-rink only during the allocated training times and only when I have paid to be in the rink.

Ensure I am on the premises of any location such as libraries or classrooms only during the scheduled and permitted time periods.

SACE BOARD RULES

Ensure that all of my Research Project conforms with the SACE Board Rules.

Ensure that I show sensitivity to all of my participants, especially those who suffer from physical or mental challenges (eg. injuries or anxiety) that stop them from executing an axle.

RESPECT

Ensure that I present my findings in a respectful and appropriate way.

Ensure that I respect participants request to not be filmed or recorded on or off the ice.

Respect the decision of those who decide not to participant in my research.

Treat everyone with respect and do not get frustrated with people around me, especially participants in my research, if certain aspects of the research do not give me the desired result.
