A.D. 378
Visigoths, a Germanic tribe, were treated badly by Romans so they rebel and fight the Roman legions at Adrianople and WIN!
A.D. 305
Conflict broke out about Diocletian leaving the Roman throne and the Romans fought until A.D. 312 when general Constantine became emperor. He tried to reinforce rules of Diocletian.

Early A.D. 200's
Rome's weak government led to weak economy. Trade was disrupted by foreign attacks-no money and no food. Value of Roman coins decreased.
A.D. 476
Germanic General Odoacer overthrew Romulus Augustulus and became the first barbarian to rule in Rome. No Roman emperor ever again ruled from Rome. The end of the Western Roman Empire.
A.D. 234
Political confusion-soldiers turn against emperors. Civil wars break out -legions fight legions to put new emperor on throne. Rome had 22 different emperors in 50 years.
A.D. 284
Diocletian became emperor and made new laws which the Roman people didn't like so they ignored them. He also built forts, divided empire in to 4 parts, he set maximum prices for wages and ordered workers to keep jobs until they died.
A.D. 330
Constantine moved the capital from Rome to Byzantium which became known as Constantinople. He split the empire in to two parts.
A.D. 455
The Vandals entered Rome and spent 2 weeks seizing valuables and burning bulidings and overcame the Romans living there.
A.D. 395
The Eastern and Western parts of Rome became separate empires when Theodosius died. One empire was the Western Roman Empire , the capital was Rome and the other was the Eastern Roman Empire with the capital city at Constantinople.
