Luis Ronzon: Reflecting on My Growth through the Personal Project
Challenges
I faced deadline problems with getting applications turn in
I faced challenges to get them scholarships aside from the ones that NHI offered
I faced a lot of rejection with the freshman scholars and their parents with permission.
Support
I got help from my other coach Valeria for the guideline rule book and for training examples
I had support from my coach Tatiana who helped me get applications and scholarships for the freshman
I got help from my supervisor Mr. Slater by getting me the right freshman for me to recruit and gave me advice on how to talk to and persuade the students to join.
Learning styles
I was a reader by being able to read documents and a game plan towards recruitment
I learned by having my hands on guidebooks for a list of how to recruit and how to get them engaged into the program
I also learned by verbally interacting with the freshman and being able to criticize myself and how I could speak better
Mindset
My attitude started of strong and positive
During the process I saw the challenges that I was facing and wanted to quit
In the end I was relieved because I just needed to coach one freshman
ATL Skills
I research by going to the NHI website and getting info about the program and for recruitment I research through the link that my coach had send me that explain step by step how to recruit.
I communicated by putting myself out to the freshman and made a powerpoint for the scholars who were interested in joining the program
I had to think through my plans to be able to not get stuck or mess up with each process
IB Traits
I was balanced because I had to balance my school work, my research for the project, and getting time to talk individually to each freshman and managing scholarships and opportunities for the freshman
I was knowledgeable by researching what NHI is and how it can help the students succeed in their lifes
I was a risk taker by taking a risk to show a presentation to all the freshman classes about the program and to recruit them knowing I might fail or succeed.
