Plant Types
Shrubs
A small wood plant that is usually multi-stemmed arising from or near the ground, Shrubs can be deciduous or evergreen.
Example- Hydrangea, Rhododendron
Trees

Evergreen
Retain their leaves throughout the year but slow down or stop their growth rate from autumn to spring
Examples: Pine, Holly, Sprouse
Grasses
Vegetation consisting of small plants with narrow, blade like leaves, grows wild or cultivated on lawns or pasture as fodder crop
Example- Grass seeds that are edible are rice, oats, barley , sweetcorn
Bulbs
A bulb is a short stem with fleshy leaves or leaf bases that function as food storage organs during dormancy
Examples: Snowdrop, Onions, Daffodil
Annual Plants
Live only one year, go to seed and dies. The seeds under appropriate growing conditions which germinate and grow into a plant
Example- Violas, Sunflower
Perennial Plant
Appear every year, usually leaves first followed by flower and then seeds. The vegetation then dies off but the plant lives on to appear the following season
Examples: Daisy, Snowdrop
Biennial Plants
Take two years to complete their growing cycle from germination to seed. This Plant will not live beyond two growing seasons
Carnivorous Plants
Plants adapted to attract and capture and digest primarily insects but also other small animals. Most carnivorous plants make their own enzymes; the bacteria cause the captured prey to rot and the plant absorbs the nutrients
Examples: tomatoes, venus flytrap, sundew
Monocots
- One cotyledon - Veins usually parallel - Vascular bundles usually completely arranged - Fibrous root system - Floral parts usually in multiples of three
Dicots
- Two Cotyledons
-Veins usually netlike
-Vascular bundles usually arranged in a ring
-Taproot usually present
-Floral parts usually multiples of four or five
