only one person can use the kiosk at a time, the individual will be able to use the kiosk through a device that is provided by the kiosk.
The kiosk will also provide a map of the museum, the map will also highlight areas that is most popular and areas that are new or under maintenance
The kiosk will also inform the user about upcoming events such as; lectures about an event in history that had occurred in Bahrain many years ago, should the user have an interest in going, they can use their credit card to purchase a ticket that the kiosk will print out.
User requirements
The kiosk is aimed at all audiences in order to allow the family to enjoy their time at the museum. This is so that the museum can attract as many customers and tourists as possible.
In order to operate the kiosk, the user will be given a handheld device that is attached to the kiosk, the device is a touchscreen tablet and it will control what happens on the screen of the kiosk.
The screen of the kiosk will be similar to a wide screen TV and it will be 60 inches, so that everything can be seen on the screen, The screen will be attached to the wall.
performance requirements
The kiosk will be connected to the internet , it will also have a wi-fi connection just for the kiosk it self and it will have a password that only the staff will know about.
There will be a software upgrade with the kiosk and in order to upgrade the software, the staff will need to plug in their laptop through a USB into the kiosk and upload the upgrade to the kiosk.
In order to turn on the kiosk, there will be a power button the the handheld device. Once the kiosk is turned on, it will load for a few seconds in order to set things up and gather data. The kiosk can stay online and the power will remain on until the museum is closed for the day.
safety
The kiosk will be a screen hooked onto a wall, it will be the same as a home T.V screen on a wall so that it doesn't fall onto the individual that's using the kiosk.
The screen will be on ground level/ 1st floor so that if it does fall from a few meters, no one will get hurt.
Make sure there are no loose wires, so that no one trips up and get hurt, also so that nobody gets electrocuted
Materials and components
The material that will be used to make the kiosk with will be a durable polymer called ABS, because the kiosk will be placed in the museum for over a two year period.
The type of glass that will be used for the touchscreen tablet will be; gorilla glass. should the user drop the tablet on the floor or from 1-6 meters, the gorilla glass will withstand the impact so it wont shatter or break. The glass also has a good surface finish on it so it will be easy to use the touchscreen, moreover, the screen lasts a long time this will be good to use for the kiosk because, the kiosk will last for over two years or more.
size
The kiosk will be freestanding, the individual will be standing while they're using the kiosk.
