Fashion/Tourism Kiosk
Safety
To prevent sharp edges and corners from harming users and/or children, they should be radiused.
The screen should be one that does not heat up too much or is built with a heat-protective system to prevent burning or irritating the users skin.
The kiosk should be made so it does not topple over and is stable even when being used in a manner that it is not made for (for example, if weight is put on the kiosk).

The position the user will be in when using the kiosk should be comfortable and not harmful to the his/her body.
The display screen(s) should be at eye-level to prevent the user from altering their body position in a harmful manner.
The touch screen and buttons, especially on the keyboard, should not be too stiff as this may harm the user.
Performance Requirements
If internet is required, the kiosk should be positioned close to a router for a strong connection

The power source should be taken into account when designing (e.g if it is connected to the mains supply or has an alternative (renewable) energy source.
The kiosk should have an anti-sun damage varnishing or be made out of materials that do not experience sun damage.
The kiosk should be durable enough to be used for the expected duration, and it should be in optimum condition after transport and storage.
Form
Any images on the kiosk should be representative of Bahrain and/or aim attractive to tourists and the target audience.
The theme should aim to attract tourists and people interested in Bahrain Fashion Week. It must symbolise Bahrain.
The colour scheme should be vibrant to attract tourists and representative of the colours in Bahrain's flag (red and white).
The font should be large and clear to make it easy to read. It may involve Arabic lettering to symbolise Bahrain.
User Requiements

The kiosk should have a keyboard to allow the users to search for specific information. This keyboard could be a separate component or be part of the touch screen.
The target audience should be taken into account. The kiosk should be at the correct height and look aesthetically appealing for this audience.
The screen size should be large enough for the images to be clear, but not excessively large so space is not wasted.
Function

A variety of common payment options should be available for the users and taken into account when designing.
If the design will contain leaflet holders, it must advertise the leaflets and make them easily accessible.
The method by which tickets are purchased (if necessary) should be taken into account when designing (e.g if a printer is required).
Size
Ergonomics
The parts of the kiosk that the user will be physically interacting with (such as the touch screen and keyboard) should be comfortably within reach of arm.
The body position of the user should be taken into account when designing the product. (For example, if the user will be sitting or standing.)

The keyboard should be appropriate for people with a variety of lengths and widths of hands. The flexibility and range of movements of the hand should also be taken into account, so the users hands and fingers can move comfortably and are not strained. Also, the handedness of people should be taken into account: the keyboard should be easy to use for left, right and mixed-handed people.
The size of any buttons should be large enough for the users to comfortably press, but not excessively large to the point where they regularly accidentally press them.
The display screen(s) should be at eye-level to prevent the user from altering their body position in a harmful manner.
Sustainability
The manufacturing processes chosen for the product should be highly efficient in terms of power consumption and the wastage of materials.
The power source of kiosk should be a renewable one. For example, it may be solar powered if it is to be placed outdoors.
The materials used could be recycled or recyclable. If they are to be disposed of in a certain manner, the owner of the product should be made aware of this.
To prevent the use and potential wastage of paper, leaflets or such sheets of information, they could be electronically transferred from the kiosk to the users device rather than printed.
Materials & Components
The materials chosen should be appropriate for the product in terms of durability, based on how rough and long it is expected to be used.
The materials used could be recycled or recyclable. If they are to be disposed of in a certain manner, the owner of the product should be made aware of this.
