My Wai
Laie
My was is from Kahawainui in Laie. This stream is formed from 9 gulches that combined from the streams that flow down from the Ko'olau. Before the stream was altered from construction, the stream provided an excellent source of water, food and land. In order to protect our wai and our source of life we must understand it's importance to our everyday lives. I can protect my wai by being considerate of the amount of wai I use and by keeping it clean from pollution.
Board of Water Supply
Where does it come from?
Wells dug underground that go through highly filtered equipment systems
the native Hawaiians -- drew their water supplies from fresh water springs, lakes, streams, and shallow wells. Incredibly, a population that may have amounted to hundreds of thousands thrived on the island through wise management of their lands and water resources.
