Act 2
Scene 3
Duncan's body is discovered, and Macbeth kills his servants in a facade created to make it look like the servants killed Duncan. In response to their father's death Malcolm and his brother flee.
Macbeth "Who can be wise, am'zed temperate and furious?"
Scene 2
Macbeth has just murdered Duncan, however forgets to leave the dagger he used in his room, incriminating the servants, so lady Macbeth takes charge.
Lady Macbeth "My hands are of your colour, but I shame to wear a heart so white"
Scene 4

Macduff conveys how suspicion has fallen on Duncan's sons for his murder. Macbeth is crowned as king.
Scene 1
Macbeth sees a ghostly dagger, the first of many hallucinations, as he moves to Duncan's room to assassinate him

Act 1

Scene 2
Duncan is told how Macbeth is a hero and how the Thane of Cawdor is a traitor, so Duncan decides to have him executed and Macbeth take his title

Scene 3
The witches tell Macbeth three prophecies: he will be Thane of Glamis, he will be Thane of Cawdor, and he will be king. Banquo is foretold to never be king himself, but for his children to be. Almost immediately after Macbeth is told he is the new Thane of Cawdor.

Scene 5

Lady Macbeth reads a letter telling her that Macbeth sent her about becoming Thane, and about the witches prophecies. At that moment she decides to kill Duncan.
Scene 4

Macbeth thanks Duncan for his new title, and Duncan announces that his son is the new heir.

Scene 7
Macbeth's conscientiousness takes over telling him not to commit the crime. Upon telling Lady Macbeth she tells him that he is a coward and convinces him to commit the crime.
Macbeth "assassination" and Lady Macbeth "When you durst do it, then you are a man."
