Constructive
when plates move apart, magma wells up to fill the gap, and eventually a new crust is formed.
Destructive
when the oceanic and continental plates move together. the OP is forced under the lighter CP. friction causes melting of the OP and might trigger an earthquake or volcano eruption- magma rises through the cracks onto the surface
Conservative
when plates slide past each other in different directions at speed. friction is finally overcome and the plates slip past in abrupt movements which causes an earthquake. e.g San Andreas fault in California, which was made into an exciting film.
