Red Eye :fire:
Common CAUSES
• Conjunctivitis
• Subconjunctival haemorrhage
• Episcleritis
• Trauma
- Scleritis
- Anterior uveitis
- Acute glaucoma
- Blephratitis
Examination
• Check Snellen visual acuity
• Use a bright pen torch
• Note location and distribution of redness
• Ask patient to look in all directions
• Examine lower palpebral (lid) conjunctiva
• Instil fluorescein drops
• Examine pupils
• Check the cornea is clear

1) Diffuse conjunctival oedema and hyperaemia
2) Involves palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva

EPISCLERATIS
Diffuse or localised redness,
but palpebral conjunctiva spared

Blurred Vision & pain
- Bacterial keratitis/corneal ulcer
- Herpetic keratitis
- Acute angle closure glaucoma
- Iritis
