Miami people lived in these shelters.

Rectangular Longhouses/Round Wigwams
Delaware, also known as the Lenape lived in these types of structures.
Both made of long, bent wooden poles tied together near the top.
The poles were covered with bark from elm trees.
An opening in the roof let the smoke from a cooking fire escape.
Wigwams
Round, single family homes.
Easier to heat than longhouses.
Even groups that lived in longhouses most of the year often switched to wigwams in the winter.

Longer longhouses stretch several hundred feet.
Longhouses several hundred feet = Houses up to 20 families.
