U.S Senate
majority leader
Mitch McConnell has been the majority leader of the senate since January 3, 2015. As majority leader, it is his responsibility to control the majority party of the senate which in his case is the republican party
president pro tempore
president pro tempore is Orrin Hatch who was born in Pittsburg PA, as the president pro tempore it is his job to control and lead the senate in the event of the absence of the vice president, the president pro tempore is elected by the senate.
minority leader
Chuck Schumer has been the minority leader since November of 2016 and his job as minority leader is to control the minority party of the senate which in this case is the democrat party
Minority whip
Richard Durban has been the minority whip for the democrat party since 2005, and his job is to make sure everyone in the senate of the democratic party doing what they are supposed to do
Vice president
Today's vice president is Joe Bidden, he has been in office since 2008 and he leads the senate, he organizes meetings and is the deciding vote in the event of a tie
majority whip
Today's majority whip is John Cornyn, he has served as the majority whip since 2013 and his job to make sure everyone in the senate of the republican party is doing there job
legislative assistant

Leslie Knope
Leslie Knope is the equivalent of Chuck Schumer. She isn't as important as the majority leader, but still does a lot of work for the department, probably even more than Ron.
Jerry/Donna
Donna and Jerry are the minority whips, who is Richard Durban in the Senate. They work with the interns and new employees and help keep them in check. Like the minority whips, they make sure interns are doing their jobs.
Ron Swanson
Ron Swanson is the equivalent of Mitch McConnell head of the Parks and Recreations department, although he does more than just parks and rec. He often deals with other departments, even though he hates all forms government.
Tom Haverford
Tom Haverford is equivalent to John Cornyn. He is the department administrator, and works closely with Leslie. He keeps the department in check.
Ben Wyatt
Ben Wyatt is the equivalent of the president pro tempore, Orrin Hatch. Ben is Chris' right hand man and has almost as much responsibility as his superior, Chris.
Chris Traeger
Chris Traeger is the equivalent of Joe Biden. He is the city manager of the small town of Pawnee, Indiana. He's in charge of all the different parts of the Pawnee government, as well as the city itself.
April Ludgate
April Ludgate is equivalent to Lucas Miller. April does research for people who have higher authority than her and she helps by sharing her opinion with her superiors.
