Period G: How can we make A sustainable indoor ecosystem
What do we need to know about plants and animals
Will we have to use plants and animals or just one?
What animals will eat this plant to survive
what type of water would we use
salt?
fresh
What materials will we need to build it?
what would the tank be made out of
would the tank be able to contain heat
I think we will need a glass container so that we will be able to watch the animal and the 10 heads of lettuce.
What animals can we use?
What are animals that we can use to interact positivly
What can we add in that will be consumed
We can use fish, a bunny, a lizard or an animal that would not consume 10 heads of lettuce quickly.
Animals:
-bunny
-guinea pig
-fish
Should we use Land animals or Aquatic animals in this project?

Could we use fish?
how will we transfer the left over water from the plants to the animals or the other way around?
is there a limit on the size of the organisms that we are going to have in our ecosystem?
How big a container can we build for the animals?
#
#
The size of the container depends on what animal we will get. If we get a fish , we will need a small fish tank. If we get a dog or a cat, we would need a bigger cage. We also need to remember that we need to include at least 10 heads of lettuce. So, if we get a fish we would need space for the fish and at least 10 heads of lettuce.
Will we use a filter to clean the water
How do we create a miniature food chain?
What are the different population ratios
#
What type of balance between plants and animals will we have to have.
What will we give the animals to eat?
What are the steps we need to take to
start on the ecosystem, first steps?
I think that the first step was to plant the seeds. The second step would be to decide what animal we should use. The third step would be to buy the materials we need to create our container. The last step would be to make our container strong and large enough for the animal and 10 heads of lettuce.
how can the plants thrive in an environment without nutrients from soil
How will the plants get water?
#
How much water should the plants get and how often?
#
text
I think the plants could get water by using overhead sprinklers.
Sprinklers could drown with too much water and could die of dehydration from lack of water. We should install a timer to water the lettuce with the perfect amount
what kind of animals do we need? K. King
#
what will animals need to survive?
water
shelter
What shape should the shelter be?
What would be a good temperature for the animals?
food
How will we feed the animals?
The food the animals would eat would depend on the animal. If we got a carnivore it would not survive on just the lettuce. It would need meat of some sort.
space
Small animals
Do we have a certain square foot for the animals
what will we do with the animals after
