Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Born October 21st,1772, Coleridge ws an English poet. He was an orphan. He struggled with anxiety and depression and it is now thought that he was bipolar. He was physically unhealthy which caused him to have an opium addiction
Plot
The Mariner shoots the Albatros and then everyone blames the bad stuff (no water, too hot) on him and a bad spirit lingering.

He is the protagonist. Unnaturally old, skinny and tan with glittering eyes. Shoots Albatross
The Sailors
Set sail with the Mariner.Suffer from heat and thirst. When the rain returns the sailors come back alive
Pilot
Captain of a small boat that rows Mariner out. Loses his mind when Mariner comes alive and rows
Hermit
Prays three times a day and lives in communion with nature in the woods. First person to hear the tale

Part 1
The ship is sailing, the bride is walking in
The sea is rough, but the Albatross is goodness in the harsh nature
The young boy doesn't want to hear what he has to say but for some reason can't stop listening
The Mariner shoots the Albatross for no reason
The mariner stops a partygoer
Part 2
It becomes hot and dry and nature is being hostile
There is no clean water and their is supernatural things outside of the ship
Some give credit to the bird, some think it was no good anyways
Nightmares come as nature is still being hostile. The sailors blame fate on the Mariner. The mariner does the mark of shame
They are moving North now and the guilt is settling in
Part 3
The ship is a skeleton ship and lady luck is there
Lady luck wins and the ship goes off
They are dehydrated and are showing lots of gratitude because they think the ship is going to help
People start dying one by one but the mariner lives
Time stands still as they see another ship
Part 4
Compares dead men to the creatures
Nature is tormenting and he cannot pray. The dead sailors are not dying
He is isolated from everyone but the sea creatures
He is still alive and there is lots of imagery and finally the curse is lifted
Wedding guest is scared but Mariner tells him not to be
Part 6
The two angels are observing the ship as it drives the Mariner home to England. The angels don't know who or what is making the ship to go
The mariner wakes up and the dead bodies are standing around him staring at him reminding him of his crime and guilt and the moon is glittering in their eyes
The breezes start to blow and the Mariner is cheered. We have to move forward in our lives despite what has happened in the past
He realizes that the ship has reached his home. He sees the harbor bay lit beautifully by the mood and sees the pilot and his boy rowing out to help the ship into the harbor to port. Then angels come and stand on the bodies of all the dead sailors and wave
The mariner is excited because the Hermit from the woods who is a Holy man is in the boat too and the Mariner thinks he can cleanse his soul
