Themes
nature vs Supernatural-- Our place in the natural world and our relationship with the supernatural. -It's good to respect nature and everything that lives in it
Ambivalence-- doubt and misgiving in the face of a complicated and mysterious world
Pride- It's an important mistake that humans make and we should be humble in the face of mother nature. -It's good to be humble and not be prideful because the higher you are the harder you fall. It will be a big deal if you make a mistake.

Part 1
The begin the journey and go down to the south pole
it's really cold and scary
The mariner told the young man to listen to his story. The supernatural makes him listen

Part 2
The Ship is returning north after sailing through the Antarctic, they are now in the S. Pacific
2.The sailors initially blame the Mariner for killing the bird that brought the breeze but then praise the Mariner for killing the bird that brought them out of the land of snow and mist
The ship is stuck in the doldrums near the equator and there are slimy sea creatures and a horrible heat and thirst
The St. Elmo's fire, and bioluminescece of the algae provoke feelings of superstition in the sailors and they dream that an evil spirit has followed them from the land of mist and snow.
The sailors blame their fate on the Mariner and hang the dead bird around his neck as a sign of guilt
Part 3
It turns out it's a death ship that's coming to kill them- Lady Luck wins the game and the Ghost ship speeds away. Night falls.
Lady luck is rolling the dice for their lives and she wins- The sailors curse him with their eyes and then fall dead on the ship's deck leaving the Mariner alive all alone
They see this ship coming and they think it's coming to save them-The Ghost ship comes sailing towards them with Lady luck and death on board playing dice for the sailor's souls
Everyone dies on the ship except for him
time stands still and they're stuck in the water -The ship is stuck in the doldrums; no wind and no water to drink
Part 4
Everyone died on the ship except for the mariner - The Mariner spends over a week on the ship.
2.He wants to pray but he can't because he's not close to God and he wasn't respecting nature - He's dying of thirst, the ship won't move, and weird slimy sea creatures surround the ship and play in the moonlight
The curse keeps him from dying - The Mariner tries to pray but his heart is as dry as his mouth. He cannot pray because he feels guilty and he has no tender feelings for God's creation
He's looking at the sea creatures and their beauty - Eventually, after watching the creatures play in the water, he develops a fondness for them and this feeling in his heart brings him redemption.
the curse is lifted- The Albatross falls from his neck and he can pray again.
Part 5
Because the curse is lifted, he sleeps and when he wakes up it's raining-- then the wind is moving and the clouds are flying by showing him glimpses of the stars
The dead sailors rise up and start to work the ropes the way they had when alive and the mariner helps
Wedding guest burst in and is afraid of the zombies sailors the mariner reassures him that is was all angles, when the sun comes up they all lay down and spirits leave their bodies
The spirits fly around the boat making sweet sounds, the ship moves on but not from the breeze. the spirit from the land of mist and snow
Ships takes off in a hurry, the mariner falls down and faints and hears 2 voices talking above his head. They say he's the one that shot the bird. He's paid for his crimes but will continue to pray.

Part 6
The 2 Angles are observing the ship as it drives the Mariner home to England. The Angles don't know who or what is making the ship to go.
The Mariner wakes up and the dead bodies are standing around him reminding at him reminding him of his crime and guilt and the moon is glittering in their eyes.
The breezes start to blow and the Mariner is cheered. We have to move forward in our lives despite what has happened in the past.
He realizes that the ships has reached his home. He sees the harbor bay lit beautifully by the moon and sees the pilot and his boy rowing out to help the ship into the harbor to port. Then Angles come and stand on the bodies of all the dead sailors and wave.
The Mariner is excited because the Hermit from the woods who is a Holy man is in the boat too and the Mariner thinks he can cleanse his soul.
Part 7
he can see the lights on the land
Another pilot puts the mariner on his boat
the first ship he was on sinked
