Characters
George- "small and quick"/strong features/thin and bony and slender; seems like a role model for Lennie/his provider/his teacher; quick to get angry at Lennie for his mistakes (guilt?); sees Lennie as a burden; obligation to care for Lennie (exploitation?); becomes trusting of Slim;
Lennie- "huge"/sloping shoulders/shapeless face/heavy walk; naive and child-like as if he suffers from a mental disorder (autism?); quick to forget; likes animals (especially mice) but he is known to kill them; completes tasks to impress George, as if he wants to be like him (role model); followed George around after Clara's death;
Narrator- tracker (why does he possess this skill?; interested in nature; romantic more than real; descriptive with an extreme attention to detail;
Aunt Clara- gave mice to Lennie to "play with" when he was younger; caretaker?; passed away; the idea of Aunt Clara calms Lennie; Lennie remembers her in pieces, as if she is close to him;
"The boss"- dresses like a cowboy; takes his anger out on an African-American man; is known to be "nice" but get angered easily; asks many questions and is easily suspicious;
Curley's wife- "hoe"; why is this woman nameless?; attractive woman; Lennie is attracted to her; she is very flirtatious with many men; full lips/wide-spaced eyes/show-off of her body/"made up"/red nails/soft dress of cotton; nasally voice; tension w/ Curley; often wanders off; targets Lennie;
Curley- rude man who angers easily; why does Curley dislike Lennie?; boxer; dad is the boss; arrogant; trying to pick a fight (comparing himself to Lennie's size?); has short man syndrome; married to wife for two weeks; always searches for his wife as if he doesn't trust her; fearful of those "better" than him
Slim- owns a puppy; African-American man the boss takes his anger out on; he is invited to holiday celebrations; he works on the ranch;protective of George and Lennie
Candy- owns as old dog; old man with whiskers; seems to know everything about everyone; smelly like his dog; joins in on the farm with George and Lennie
Crooks- gets pleasure from teasing Lennie; seems to be somewhat afraid of Lennie due to him calming him; offers to go along to the barn and to work for no pay;

Curley picks a fight with Lennie, George tells Lennie to fight back, Lennie crushes all the bones in Curley's hand
George warns that Curley will become a laughing stock if news gets out about the fight, so Curley doesn't talk about it

Crooks threatens to tell on Curley's wife , but she threatens him with lynching

George becomes angry, and Candy tells Crooks to forget the offer

Curley's wife asks what Lennie is covering up, and assures him that the puppy was just a mutt
Curley's wife invites Lennie to touch her hair, which he ends up messing up and pulling
Lennie accidentally kills Curley's wife in a struggle and covers her body with hay so George won't notice
Candy discovers the body, and tells George and he realizes his dream will never come true
George worries about what will happen to Lennie, and that maybe they should just let him get away
