Plot
-
-
George is a small, dark man with “sharp, strong features.” Lennie, his companion, is his opposite, a giant of a man with a “shapeless” face.
Lennie has a mild mental disability and loves to pet soft things. But he pets them too hard and kills them.
Next day George and Lennie go to the ranch and meet the boss, Curley, Slim, and Candy.
-
The next day George tells Slim that him and Lennie are not actual cousins just friends and that Lennie always gets them in trouble.
-
Candy overhears George and Lennie discussing their idea to buy land, and offers his life’s savings if he can join in. The three of them agrees to this and tellls no one.
-
Curley finds Lennie and picks a fight with him because he was an easy target for his anger. Lennie crushes Curley’s hand.
Lennie tells her that he loves petting soft things, and Curley's wife offers to let him feel her hair. When he grabs too tightly, she cries out. Lennie tries to silence her, but accidentally breaks her neck.
Lennie flees back to a River that George had designated as a meeting place should Lennie gets into trouble.
-
George meets up and tells him the dream they had and when the party got closer George kills Lennie in the back of the head.
