Looking at the study period, homosexuality at that time was forbidden and it was considered as a mental illness so if humphreys had told the subject about the true purpose of his study, they would not have been honest.
No subjects responses have been revealed after completing the study and the identity of them were anonymous so the study did not have an impact on their daily lives.
There weren't any dire consequences associated with the study after it was revealed, no one of the subjects was impacted by the study.
Society at that time was harsh on homosexual people, so participants in the study could have been scared to be involved in the study if the had known the real purpose of the study.
Since the sociological study is merely a scrutiny of collective human behavior, no judgments were passed on the participants of humphreys study.

- Humphreys approach to this observation was to avoid reactive bias and knew that it was highly unlikely that he would be allowed to observe, interview and collate the information he attained. :check:
- Homosexuals have developed defences against outsiders: secrecy about their true identity, unwillingness to expose the whereabouts of their meeting places :check:
- It was in a PUBLIC forum, watchqueen or not, whether it was Humphreys or not, it was bound to come out at some stage via media, word of mouth etc :check:
- Extreme measures taken so as not to distort the real world. His interest was in the people as they are, not as he thinks they ought to be. i.e. Keeping up with the Kardashians is a reality show – is it really. They get to edit video footage, make up is usually done before rolling, they control the coverage of their lives. Is that real :check:
- Scientific Philosophy and inimical to his purposes.
A scientist at times is about testing the boundaries, he accomplished this most profoundly
- Unusual difficulties call for unusual strategies to obtain objective and systematic knowledge of behaviour :check:
- He worked the system, found a loop hole and legitimized a portion of his interviews with the research participants :check:
- Uniting systematic use of: participating observations strategies, nonreactive measures such as physical traces and archives
- Should sex, religion, suicide or other socially sensitive concerns be omitted from the catalogue of possible fields of sociological research? :check:
- It is unethical for a sociologist to deliberately misrepresent the character of the research in which he is engaged :check:
- Encounters were harmless and posed no danger to the typical straight man
