Check in Kiosk
Size
As the kiosk will be placed in an airport, space efficiency will play a significant role so as to maximize space for passengers.
The kiosk will have to be quite tall/high. This is because it's name "Self check-in" will have to be placed on the top. The taller it is, the greater the distance that it can be seen from.
There will definitely be no seating for the kiosk. This is again for the reason of space efficiency.
My kiosk will be free standing. The height of the screen from the ground will be below eye level when standing.

The screen will be operated when standing and be below eye level, perhaps at a height of five and a half feet.
I feel that the ideal dimensions of the screen will be 30 cm by 30 cm. This is ideal because large fonts can be displayed. However, with a larger screen will come a higher chance of breaking/cracking.
Because the screen will be used multiple times every hour,a protective layer over the glass can be applied.

Signage
A large, clear font must be displayed on the top of the kiosk displaying "Self check-in".
As passengers will be departing from the country, the kiosk will be one of the last shows of Bahrain culture. Therefore, it should reflect warmth, a rich cultural history and show Bahrain's most popular sites.
Function
Although there will be numerous counters, I will only be making one.

The purpose of the kiosk is to provide a boarding pass for passengers who want to check in quicker than others
To provide the quickest experience, passengers must be checked in online. They will need to provide their passport and online check in 'receipt'. Two methods can be used to transfer information;
- Let passengers input details using a physical or virtual keyboard.
- Have a scanner which can 'read' passports.

Once the process has been completed, a printer will print the boarding pass out through a slit in the machine.
Performance Requirements
As this will be a long term project, one of the priorities will be its durability.
Cable
One power supply will need to be required. It will have to be underground so as to not spoil the visual appearance. Moreover, if it was on the floor, people could possibly trip over it.
A connection method will be required between the 'cloud'/ airline system. This can either be in the form of an internet connection or a cable.
Material & Components
The screen will be placed inside the cover as this will reduce the chance of it breaking,

Sustainability
Ideally,the materials should be recyclable. Once it's use as a kiosk is completed, it can be turned into different items in a plant.
I will strive to use materials which will have an environmentally healthy lifestyle, both prior to and post use.
