American English can be different in some ways from other types of English, such as British English. "Words originally from French that end in "-our" in British English (behaviour, colour, honour, neighbour, etc.) end in "-or" in American English (behavior, color, honor, neighbor)."
This painting is called Gassed. "Gassed is based on a haunting scene the artist witnessed at an evacuation checkpoint—rows of soldiers, their heads wrapped in gauze to protect eyes temporarily blinded by mustard gas, being led by orderlies to a dressing station." <-By: John Singer Sargent
Black Friday, Halloween, Presidential turkey pardoning. These all are some of the traditions USA has. Black Friday is when shoppers go online or to stores to shop for discounted items. Halloween is when people, mostly kids and teenagers, dress in costumes and asking for candy by saying "Trick-or-Treat". The Presidential turkey pardoning is basically the president saving a turkey and letting it go into retirement .
In the US we have a government with 3 branches: the Legislative, the Judicial, and the Executive. The legislative branch is the part of the US government that creates laws.the legislative branch is the branch of the government that writes, debates, and passes laws. The Judicial branch "...interprets the meaning of laws, applies laws to individual cases, and decides if laws violate the Constitution." The executive branch is the branch that "...carries out and enforces laws. It includes the president, vice president, the Cabinet, executive departments, independent agencies, and other boards, commissions, and committees."
"Africa is a constitutional democracy with a three-tier system of government and an independent judiciary. The national, provincial and local levels of government all have legislative and executive authority in their own spheres, and are defined in the Constitution as "distinctive, interdependent and interrelated"."
When shaking hands, Africans place their other hand on the upper arm to show respect. Also, in many African cultures, you talk loudly so as to ensure that nobody thinks secrets or gossip are being whispered to each other. Again, this is a sign of respect for people.

This painting is called The Scream. It was created by Edvard Munch. The scene of The Scream was based on a real, actual place located on the hill of Ekeberg, Norway, on a path with a safety railing. The faint city and landscape represent the view of Oslo and the Oslo Fjord. At the bottom of the Ekeberg hill was the madhouse where Edvard Munch’s sister was kept, and nearby was also a slaughterhouse. Some accounts describe that in those times you could actually hear the cries of animals being killed, as well as the cries of the mentally disturbed patients in the distance. In this setting, Edvard Munch was likely inspired by screams that he actually heard in this area, combined with his personal inner turmoil. Edvard Munch wrote in his diary that his inspiration for The Scream came from a memory of when he was walking at sunset with two friends, when he began to feel deeply tired. He stopped to rest, leaning against the railing. He felt anxious and experienced a scream that seemed to pass through all of nature.
