WEEK 9 - PRODUCTS: ADVERTISING INDUSTRY (JESSICA BARRETT)
A Coggle Diagram about RADIO
(We used an example of a radio advertisement selling Tobacco. The advertisement was an example of a hard sell advertisement and it constantly repeated the name of the brand (Lucky Strikes) and placed emphasis on the name of the brand when ever it was said. The advert goes on for quite a while, 1 minute and 20 seconds, so you could not miss the name of the brand.
, The company also place an emphasis on the quality of the cigarette. Lucky Strikes was a working class cigarette brand
, The comedy show, The Jack Benny Show, which was a working class comedy, indicating that the advert was targeted at the audience of the show.
, Radio stations use lots of adverts in the breaks between the shows to advertise products suited to their target audience e.g. Heart Radio's target audience would be middle aged members of the public.
and Radio stations also create adverts to be shown on the television because you can now tune in to radio stations through your television.
(Difference between hard and soft sell advertisements
, Programmes that advertise products in their shows have to acknowledge this with the use of the 'P' sign
, Before certain programmes start, there is often an advert stating that the show if brought to you by a certain company
and Television channels, such as the BBC, don't so much as feature advertisement of consumer goods but feature advertisement for new and upcoming programmes on their channel
