Kambili
Kambili's point of view on papa is at first that he loves her even though she is aware the he beats mama. She is afraid of him and very afraid to disappoint him.
Jaja
Jaja's point of view of papa is very bitter. He is aware of how he beats mama but knows he can't do anything to stop it so he acts out against papa. For example when he didn't go to communion
Mama
Mama's point of view of papa is strange. She feels that even though he beats her and causes her to have miscarriages she cannot leave him because he is so wealthy and socially important
Aunty Ifeoma
Aunty Ifeoma's point of view on papa is that he is cruel and she doesn't fear like everyone else does. She also helps Kambili and jaja find their voice and speak up against papa.
Papa
Papa views himself as a standup citizen who is generous and gives back to the church.He also prides himself on being the only newspaper to criticize the corrupt government, even though in real life he adores the government and the British ways.

In the beginning of the book, the conflict between Jaja and Papa was because the activities in the church. Papa try to force his whole family to believe in Catholicism.
The Lack of Freedom
The first level of freedom in this book can be considered between papa's family. He doesn't allow his wife and children to go against his rules. In addition, he doesn't allow his children to have their own thoughts and lives. All of his family should be completely controlled by Papa.
The second level of freedom is the people in Nigerian, who live under the pressure and the violent govern of the British.
