Psycho film and what it reflects
women
their rights
positions in work places
men are the heroes
it could be understood that men are shown as damaged and needing help, while women are shown as care-givers.
the men think the women are interested in money or status or success, while women are only interested in love
Hitchcock almost wants us to see that women are objects of sexual desire that are to be sought after. Marion is shirtless twice within the first eleven minutes of the film.
wealth
Marilyn and Sam could not be together beacuse of their wealth
therefore Marilyn stole the money so they could be together
the head guy of the company Marilyn works at says “I buy off unhappiness. Are you unhappy?”
mental health
he was diagnosed with a multiple personality disorder
Norman was a kind-hearted, polite and caring person who unknowingly suffers from dissociative identity disorder
It was merely due to his inability to cope with traumatic events, such as, killing his own father.
The film questioned society, (which is why rebellion from youths happened)
The film was able to break the stereotypical convention about mental illness, and created ideas that had not been done before
family
sister and partner came to save
did not come from a wealthy family
the parents were not involved
morality
she should not of stole the money but she wanted to create a family with her partner Sam, and wealth was the only thing holding them back
what is right and what is wrong
who determines this?^^^
questioned through Marilyn and Sam in a questionable adult relationship, and their financial problems create her to become a thief. Then she is murdered, and can we forgive that?
