Environmental Photography
Air Pollution
Harmful Chemicals
Sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and chemical vapors (Bradford).
Effects: Global warming, acid rain, asthma. respiratory problems, change function or DNA of animals, toxic vegetation, etc.
Atmospheric Pollution
Greenhouse gases that trap heat and are the result of factory emissions, reactions, etc.
"Nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), and chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)" (Dawson 50).
Water Pollution
Organic Pollutants (Dawson 50)
Pesticides like chlorpyrifos and paraquat, and their byproducts, such as dioxin have harmful effects to humans and even worse effects on marine life.
Other pesticides that were used were pesticides like " DDT on plants pollutes the ground water system and oil spills in the oceans have caused irreparable damage to the water bodies" which have detrimental effects on humans at large doses and even worse on animals ("Pollution: Causes and Effects").
Inorganic Pollutants (Dawson 50)
Inorganic Pollutants that are very apparent in waterways are hydrochloric acid, sodium chloride, and sodium carbonate which alter the acidity, salinity, or alkalinity in the water leading to contamination and other consequences.
Heavy Metals (Dawson 50).
Transitions metals like Cadmium, Mercury, and Lead.
Animals absorb toxic chemicals which can lead to brain damage and even death.
Plastic
BPAs in plastic bottles harm marine life because they absorb the chemicals which makes them sick and contaminates the environment (Zion).
Most plastic bottles are made “of completely recyclable polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastics, but PETs don’t biodegrade they photodegrade” (Schriever).
It takes "17 million barrels of oil each year" to make water bottles (Schriever).
Industrial waste
Thermal Pollution
Factories put the "water to cool its operations ends up discharging hot water. This makes the water hold less oxygen, which can kill fish and wildlife" (“Pollution Facts & Types of Pollution”).
Factories release dangerous chemicals into " the rivers and other water bodies cause an imbalance in the water leading to its severe contamination and death of aquatic species ("“Pollution: Causes and Effects").
Soil Pollution
Pesticides
Absorbs nitrogen in the soil and prevents the plants from receiving nutrients (“Pollution: Causes and Effects”).
Industrial waste, mining, and deforestation largely impact the soil quality (“Pollution: Causes and Effects”).
"The most significant pesticide of the twentieth century was DDT, which was highly effective as an insecticide but did not break down in the environment and led to the death of birds, fish, and some humans" (Dawson 51).
Land Pollution
Waste (Bradford)
"A little over half of the waste — 136 million tons— was gathered in landfills. Only about 34 percent was recycled or composted"
Large amounts of waste are the result of construction materials, industrial waste, etc
" Hazardous waste is any liquid, solid or sludge waste that contain properties that are dangerous of potentially harmful to human health or the environment"
Other harmful materials produced from families are paints and solvents, motor oil, fluorescent lights, aerosol cans, and ammunition.
Aspects of Photography (The Beginner's)
Exposure
Shutter Speed
Shutter is a mechanism that opens or closes in front of the camera.
How long an object is exposed to light, slow shutter capturing moving images means blurry images, while fast shutter capturing moving images "freezes the image"
Aperture
A hole in the camera's lens that captures the light and is passed through to the sensor.
The sharpness of the image.
Iso
Iso deals with how sensitive the camera is to light is, the higher the iso the more light that is in the photo and the more noisy it is.
Different Modes
Shutter Priority Mode, Manuel Mode, Aperture Priority Mode, and Program Mode
Focus Modes
Manual focus, very difficult to photograph unless there is no reflections, subject is very close, etc.
Select Manual focus mode
One shot, continuous, and auto.
Continuous focus, change to continuous AF and then continuous drive.
One shot and AF-A can be used by selecting focus points or different modes for moving objects like continuous AF.
Autofocus Points, the amount of sensors or points the camera has to set the focus.
Change the focus points by activating autofocus and selecting the different points to focus.

Light Pollution
Light pollution is very prominent in large cities due to the large amounts of bright, artificial lights.
Consequences: Affect animal migration schedules, plant flowering and development patterns, largely increase the amount of smog in the air, and almost invisible astronomical observations and stars
