The proportion of complete schools rose from 48 percent in 2007/08 to 80.9 percent in 2015/16 of all primary schools.
The percentage of new entrants to grade one having preschool experience in 2017 was 52,7 percent, with most of these enrollments in urban areas.
By 2016, the primary net enrolment ratio had reached 98.8 percent.
From 2012 to 2017, the lower secondary gross graduation rate increased to approximately 73 percent, while the upper secondary gross graduation rate increased to around 45.2 percent.

Progress in Laos
In 2016, 33 percent of children under five years of age were stunted, 25.5 percent were underweight and 9 percent were wasted.
While 89 percent of the population has acceptable food consumption patterns, around 11 percent of rural households have poor and borderline food consumption.
The proportion of undernourished in the population has declined from 42.8 percent in 1990 to around 18.5 percent in 2015.

Poor nutrition causes nearly half (45 percent) of deaths in children under five – 3.1 million children each year.
The majority of the world’s hungry people live in developing countries, where 12.9 percent of the population is undernourished.
