Negative Feedback, Thyroxine, Adrenaline

Adrenaline

Thyroxine

Pupils of your eyes dilate to let in more light

Mental awareness to increase

Store glycogen in liver to be converted to glucose for respiration

Blood to be diverted away from digestive system to big muscles of the limbs

Heart rate and breathing rate to increase

If you need to be ready for action your adrenal glands located at the top of your kidneys secrete adrenaline which causes:

Plays important role in growth and development

In adults the levels are relatively stable

Eg how quickly substance broken down and built up, how much oxygen tissues use, development of brain for child

Controls basic metabolic rate of body

This is because of negative feedback control involving pituitary gland and the hormone it produces which stimulates thyroid

Comes from thyroid gland located in the neck

Negative Feedback

Your body uses negative feedback systems to control the levels of hormones and other substances in the blood

This response brings the level back to normal again

When the body detects the level of a substance has gone above or below the normal level it triggers a response

Adrenaline boosts the delivery of oxygen to your brain and muscles preparing for fight or flight response. Once danger is over raised levels of awareness are no longer needed so the levels get restored back to resting levels
