Global boost = Priority projects. 26 Global and many of GPAF's are in
Feedback from GPI Prog Director
3 projects - Oceans Sanctuary( Oceans Sanc will be the global boost while other project will be pushed to Dec 2018) - Improtance of Oceans sanctuaries = global boost. 3 in devlopment - 1 in forest, 1 in electic carts. plastics was pushed back to the global chart.
Strong sense from all NRO that the global boost should not be...2:00 Evyone expected to participate in the global boost. Ops meeting - suggestions will be discussed. Global prog and advisory group where feedback will be given. stron sense is taht GPAF can live with 1 or 2 projects.
Talked about 2020 projects and what the vision would be
Decided that a global boost proposal should not be made unless there is a strong ....3:00., audience. Enabling funds. Who is most imp audience to mobilise, Do adieuce research to have a stremaline process. Imp decision. Q: Oceans Sanc Global boost - what would it look like? It would focus more on teh sancuaty treaty. Idea is to highlight the different types, phases and how supporters with come in and out. Space for negotiation. What would be determining factor to host a ship tour? Key influenecer work = give them bigger platform. Start negotiations in terms of space.
External trends - had experts around migration - closing civil society space and women's movements and tech. Discussed how GP would feed into these things/projects.
Q: What does it mean for local projects in terms of planning? 4 priorities submitted for GPAF which needs go in by Dec. All of our projects are already included there, however, it is our decision to determine what would be priority projects. Q: What are the criteria by which these projects will be judged? Also something we need to look at by ourselves and determine but should be part of our future conversations.
Action: Toko will forward outcome draft to PLT
Q: How soon will we be able to populate calendar for 2019?
Virtual meetings in Dec will focus on our calendar priorities
Action: Celehte. Doodle on last week of Jan 28 - 31 3rd week of Feb 18 - 22
Update and Security Ban: Had to streamline events in 13 Nov Joburg and 7 Nov Dakar. Smaller events in Kenya and Cameroon but not confirmed. Looking on outputs instead of the events itself. Outputs of band camps, the events are being used as place holders. Event to celebrate as staff, vols, activists, and on digital platforms. The main purpose is to create content, digitize. Joburg, really want a lot of vols, activist to be present. Nairobi still deciding if they wil do a celebration, Security ban determines event in other hubs.
