Evolution Theories
Creationism
Creator: although it isn't named one exact person, it is said a lot of people believed in creatonism before Darwin came with the Evolution Theory.
-
-
Advantage: it provides humans with a special status; they are made in God's image and are completely different from other creatures.
Disadvantage: It provides two completely different stories - both can't be correct; it was written at a time when people had a very limited understanding of the universe.
Description: the belief that the universe and the various forms of life were created by God out of nothing (ex nihilo).
Transformism
Description: the evolution is the result of two forces combined: acquired characteristics, and the existence of a universal creative principle.
-
-
Evidence: Lamarck made several studies with mice and with giraffes to prove how their generations changed, leaving some weaker and some stronger.
Advantage: it proves how generations of living things have been going through changes that in one way or another help their evolvement.
Disadvantage: some generations may end up weaker or with weaker characteristics.
Catastrophism
Description: the theory that the Earth had largely been shaped by sudden, short-lived, violent events, possibly worldwide in scope.
-
-
Evidence: Nearly 300 ancient flood legends have survived the ravishment of time. Legends of a worldwide deluge, commonly known as the "Noachian Flood," are found in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, North American and South America.
Advantage: this theory proves that Earth could come to reborn itself after big disasters or something related to that.
Disadvantage: all the species currently living on Earth that are affected by the disasters would vanish.
Uniformariatism
Description: the theory that changes in the Earth's crust during geological history have resulted from the action of continuous and uniform processes.

Lamarckism
-
Evidence: He made studies on generations of giraffes, fishes, ducks, snakes, etc.
-
Advantage: it proves how generations of living things have been going through changes that in one way or another help their evolvement.
Disadvantage: some generations may end up weaker or with weaker characteristics.
Description: an organism can pass on characteristics that it has acquired through use or disuse during its lifetime to its offspring.
Darwinism
-
Evidence: species may share similar physical features because the feature was present in a common ancestor (homologous structures).
-
-
Description: all species of organisms arise and develop through the natural selection of small, inherited variations that increase the individual's ability to compete, survive, and reproduce.
