Connective tissue proper
-
Connective tissue Proper- consists of many types of cells and fibers within a matrix containing a syrupy ground substance. Skin, fatty tissue, tendons, and ligaments
Fibroblasts- the most abundant cells in connective tissue proper. Produce connective tissue fibers and ground substance
Macrophages- Scattered through matrix, phagosytize, damaged cells.
-
-
Supporting connective tissue- Less diverse cell population than connective tissue proper, and matrix of dense ground substance and closely paked fibers. Bone and cartilage.
-

-
-
Blood- red cells (erythrocytes), white cells, (leukocytes), and platelets (thrombocytes) in a fluid matrix called plasma. It is within the heart and blood vessels.
