Lampshade Idea 2
Form
The steel of the light allows it to match the design of the library with lots of exposed steel that can be found in the library already (2.1).
-
-
Location
The red adds a bold colour to the library and design, in addition to the exposed steel allowing the product to look like a part of the library (5.2)
Sustainability
When the product has reached the end of its life span, the metal can be melted down and recycled (6.3)
Safety
Metal is a good conductor of heat having a product that doesn't burn the user is great, this is a concern with this design. The steel frame could easily conduct heat and potentially burn a user (8.1).
Materials
This product will be made of steel and acrylic. The main concern with using acrylic is the colour choice, the choice will have to suit the library's colour palate in order for it to look good.
Performance requirements
Due to the unique shape of the design it would be hard to find a place to put a switch. Therefor the switch would have to be located on the stem of the light (10.3).
User requirments
The acrylic of the design would be fragile, meaning although the product could be moved around, it would need to be moved carefully (11.2).
Scale of production
The simple design and minimal materials allow the product to be easily made with minimal processes (12.1)
Maintenance
The light would require a simple wipe down, and battery changes, that would be the extent of the maintenance of the design (15.1)
