SEPSIS
Epidemiology
Mortality rate is approximately 60-80% children , elderly, and people with comprimised immune systems are more at risk.
Treatment
Hospitalization: IV fluid therapy and antibiotics: Rocephin, Fortaz, Merrem, Zosyn, Maxipime, Levaquin
Mechanical ventilation; CVP, PAOP, or ScvO2
Oxygen therapy

Marik Protocol: Intravenous vitamin C, hydrocortisone and thiamine

Pathophysiology
Sepsis leads to the release of endotoxins, tumor necrosis, factor alpha, interleukin-1 and interleukin-6, platlet aggregating factor leading to capillary dilation resuting in escape of large volumes of plasma.
