Drumming for Literacy: Reports from school assessments from across the country show that there is a deficit in reading acquisition. As time goes on more and more students are unable to read on their grade level. This is even more true for students from Low-Income Households. This research study is being conducted to see if the integration of music instruction into the core reading curriculum can support struggling readers from Low Income households, in Kindergarten become more proficient in sight word knowledge and phonemic awareness
