Odyssey books 13-16- Chase
In the beginning of book 13, King Alcinous and Arete agree to help Odysseus. Poseidon hears of this news and is angry. He asks zeus to do something about it, but Zeus sides with Odysseus, so he tells Poseidon to not hurt Odysseus but to hurt the Phaecians instead.
Odysseus finally gets home because the Phaecians drop them off there. He barely realizes that it is his home because Athena covered it in mist. Athena comes to him disguised as a shepherd to test him. Odysseus does not tell her his name and he passed. Athena undisguised herself and praised him for not telling her his name. Odysseus asks Athena why he hadn't helped him the entire time he was with Calypso, and she said that she was scared of Poseidon. She also tells him of the suitors. She transforms Odysseus into a begger and he tests Eumaeus. The test was to ask Eumaeus for his coat, as Odysseus once did. Eumaeus passes the test.
