West Side Story is a great love story, inside by the tragedy of William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet. Tony and Maria, are two young people from the Upper Side (from which the title comes) of New York who fall in love despite being part of two different bands and obviously rivals. On the one hand we find the American white Jets of Tony and on the other the Puerto Rican sharks of Maria. The gangs divide the territory and there is on possibility that these groups will accept a relationship that in some way can unite the two factions.
