What is Rhetoric?
Influencers like Thomas Jefferson start a movement of art and literature by expressing their ideas of reason, clarity, balance, and order.
Was in response against Puritanism and values reason above anything else including God. It is shown through pieces filled with effective language devices and techniques.
Speaking and writing effectively and persuasively. It tries to get their point across to the audience.
Rhetoric is a way to appeal to an audience to get them to agree or understand your views. We use rhetoric for convincing, persuading, and influencing a person or group of people.
So that we can use it in our papers and effectively for our good use. As well as to keep us from being deceived by people.
It includes two parts: The situation and the Rhetorical Triangle. The Rhetorical triangle talks about the speaker, purpose, and audience. The situation includes time and place, context, and the purpose of the speaker.
Since I was in AP English before this I already learned and have done multiple practices of the rhetorical situation so I already had the knowledge on that as well as the Enlightenment Era because of History. However I did learn that the Enlightenment era happened in response to the Puritans
