WAYS TO IMPROVE PONDOK SUNGAI ULAR
SUBSTITUTE
Curriculum : Subjects should emphasize on both academic and religious matters
Physical : Build a conducive learning environment
education : Hire more professional and skillful teachers at the pondok.
COMBINE
Education need to be combined with curriculum. As if there's a lot of skillful teachers then they should realize the importance of balancing the subject between the world and Hereafter. Therefore, the combination of both education and curriculum is crucial to create a more efficient pondok school.
ADAPT
Curriculum: Subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, Business, IT should be introduced in the Pondok. This will produce more marketable students after they finished their studies. With these subjects, the pondok will portray as one of the school that is parallel with today’s contemporary world.
Education: Teachers that are hired should be someone qualified. Coming from an intellectual background, has been certified by government and their teaching ways should be observed by the the government.
Physical: The facilities should be improved by changing from a small ‘pondok’ made by woods to a proper ‘learning place’. The government perhaps can invest their money to the development of the pondok. Include the advancing technology like computers. The classroom should be reconstructed from wood to concrete. Hence, it will create a comfortable environment for the students to learn. Instead of students sitting on the floor, they should be provided with a chair and study desk to enhance their comfort in class.
MODIFY
Curriculum: The higher authority in pondok school should be given a seminar by government on how and what steps they should take to create a more systematic and marketable subjects parallel with the trends and demand on current country’s economics status.
Education: By hiring qualified teachers, the students will be more confidence to learn without worrying the quality of the knowledge they get. The government should produced more high quality teachers by emphasising on both religious and academic matters in teaching so they could help enhance the education background of pondok school’s graduates.
Physical: The government authority or Muslim organization must play their role to help to make pondok institution more lively and attractive. They should support enough fund to make sure that the administration of the pondok is well organized. Money should be adequately funded by the govt to build the conducive environment.
PUT TO ANOTHER USE
Curriculum: Once the students finished their studies, there are better jobs that await them as they have graduated with many skills especially in an islamic way as that’s what makes pondok school student and normal school student different.
Physical: Concrete building will (stay) much longer rather than woods. There should be no worries if theres any leakage problems. This would save much cost rather than repetitively fixing the technical issue of the pondok.
Education: The reputation of the pondok itself will benefit from the skillful teachers. It encourages the outsiders to send their kids to the pondok.
ELIMINATE
Curriculum: If the subjects only focusing on religious matter, there might be a problems once the students graduated from the pondok school and start to face the real world, outside. They will realize that the things which they learnt won’t help much in term of surviving to compete with a more skillful and knowledgeable graduates that are high in demand with the company needs.
Physical: If the facilities in the pondok school remains the same, with the poor conditions, it would affect a lot in term of helping students in growing and learning as they need a more conducive environment to help them grow physically and emotionally. Furthermore, the outsiders will downgrade the pondok school and it will automatically create a negative perspective towards the pondok school.
Education: If the education system does not provide skillful teacher in the pondok, there's a possibility of other students coming from secular schools might looking down/downgrading the learners of the pondok. And to make sure the teachers’ background are a real sunni instead of deviant teaching.
