Long bones are long then wide, found in arms and legs
-
Flat bones are thinner and can be flat or curved, found in skull and sternum
Irregular bones are like parts of jigsaw puzzle, odd shape, hip bone and vertebrae
-
-
-
Plantar fascilitis or runners heel - repetitive impact on heel resulting inflammation of connective tissues on plantar surface of foot.
-
-
Treatment-rest,ice,anti inflammatory medication, padding heel
Rickets- lack of vitamin D in childhood resulting in impaired calcium absorption and bone calcification
Sign/symptoms- weak,deformed bones
-
Treatment- increase vitamin D, Vitamin D supplements, sunlight exposure
-
-
Bone marrow
Yellow marrow-high in fat content, can cover into red marrow in an emergency
-
-
Saddle joint-shaped like saddle, found in thumb: can rock up and down or side to side
condgland joint: oval shaped bone and fitting into epileptic cavity in other bone so there is movement from one place to another but no rotation s found in fingers and toes
Ellipsoidal joint: provide two areas of movement through some bone like joint formed at wrist with radius and ulna

surgical or open reduction- pins, screws, plates, or other hardware is necessary to fix the bones in place
Traction- may be necessary to treat FX of long bones, uses heavy weights to make a pulling force on the injured ones which help keep the bones i correct position.
Compact bone-dense hard tissue that composes shafts of long bones and forms outer layer of other bone types
-
-
Epiphyseal Plate ( growth plate)-after we are born, epiphyseal on long bones continues to grow
Ligaments-tough,whitish bonds that connect from bone to bone can withstand heavy stress tendons are cord-like structures that attach muscle to bone
