LESSON 9 IBA ANG IGLESIA KATOLIKA SA IGLESIAN KATOLIKA SA IGLESIANG INTINAYO NI CRISTO (The Church establish by Christ is Different from the Catholic Church)

INTRODUCTION: People believe that the Catholic Church is the Church that is established by Christ in the Bible, this is what is taught by the Pope and the priests of the Catholic Church. If this was true then the comparisons between the Catholic Church and the Church of Christ mentioned in the Bible would be one in the same. However upon further investigation, it is clearly evident that they are very different. What does the Catholic Church understand in regards to its Church-ship.

What is the "Santa Iglesia Katolika" or "Holy Roman Catholic Church"?

"Q: What, then, is the Holy Catholic Church?
A: The Universal Church, and its head is the Pope in Rome"
Catholic Catechism Pg 25. Luis De Amezquita

According to the Catholic Priest, the church is universal, which is where the word Catholic comes from. The head of this Church is the Roman Pontiff or the Pope.

Who is the true head of the Church established by the Lord Jesus Christ?

Ephesians 5:23
23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.

Catholics Believe that Peter is the foundation of the Church according to their own book "The Faith of our Fathers"

"Christ our Lord established only one Church and it was designed to be upon Peter. Thus, any person in the church that does not recognize that Peter is the foundation of the church is not a true member of the church of Christ" P.105

However Apostle Peter Himself Says that Christ is the one who is the foundation of the "Spiritual House" or Church. I Peter 2:4-5 "Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."

Additional Proofs that The Catholic Church and the True Church of Christ are Different

The Catholic Church does not believe there is only one mediator. The Mediators in the Catholic Church are the saints or people who have gone to heaven according to their book the Catechism Page 16

In the true Church of Christ we have one mediator between God and Man as taught to us by apostle Paul

I Timothy 2:5
5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,

In a Catholic Book entitled "A Catholic Faith" on page 209 it states that the ones who have power to forgive sins are the Bishops and Priests of the Catholic Church

I John 2:1-2
My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

In the Church of Christ is its apparent that we should not confess our sins to the ministers because That is not what is taught in the bible.

Psalms 32:5
Then I acknowledged my sin to you
and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess
my transgressions to the Lord.”
And you forgave
the guilt of my sin.

I John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

The difference in the Catholic worship versus the True Worship

In catholic books it is explained that their membership must revere and worship holy images in "Passion Genesis" pages 40 and 16

Christ clearly taught that we should only worship the Lord God which he sites the scripture in Deuteronomy 6:13-15

Matthew 4:8-10
again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[a]”

Deuteronomy 6:13-15
Fear the Lord your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name. 14 Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you; 15 for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you, and he will destroy you from the face of the land.
