Reactions
Germany was completely hated by the Allies and so the Treaty of Versailles was strongly against Germany. Germany did not like this at all and this arguably helped with Hitlers rise to power as he promised to abolish the Treaty as nobody in Germany felt it was fair, and so they liked Hitler.
On the Allies side, Britain was sceptical of the Treaty as they thought it was a bit harsh, however they mostly agreed with it. USA did not agree with it however they just wanted independence and so did not complain. France however felt as though the Treaty was fair enough as it restricted Germany's chance of invading desperately, however they wanted Germany to be completely destroyed.
The 'Big Three'
Clemenceau (France)
Germany had killed much of it's population, both men and women, and destroyed much of it's land. France was mad and so Clemenceau wanted Germany destroyed as he thought that they were still a threat and could potentially invade France again.
Lloyd George (Britain)
He wanted a medium punishment for Germany as Britain had suffered major losses but still wanted to trade with Germany, the British people wanted a harsh punishment.
President Wilson (USA)
President Wilson and the American people wanted isolation and were not too bothered by Germany and so Wilson came up with 14 points which seemed to be nice towards Germany, however France and Britain did not agree with these points fully, and so they compromised.
The 'Big Three' were the main leaders ,who helped at creating the Treaty of Versailles, in charge of major countries - USA, France and Britain.
