In their classroom innovation lab, my students will enter an environment where creativity, fun, and learning all meet. Collaboration and imagination will be encouraged in order for the students to learn. There will be no wrong solution to a problem, and no question that cannot be asked.
Third Grade Standards for Science and Mathematics
Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. Students know that speed can vary. Students know that varying the speed of a moving object will affect the time it takes for the object to travel a particular distance. Students know that objects can transfer energy by touching or by giving off or receiving energy waves.
Junk Building Station
This station will have everything from Legos to clay to magnets, for simple and fast creation and inspiration.
Cubelets
Cubelets are robot building blocks that allow students to engage in hands-on learning activities about magnets, invention, and even forces of interaction.
Scratch
Scratch is an online tool that allows students to create animation, digital storytelling, and even games. This tool encourages collaboration and aides in technological skills.
3D Printer Station
This station will contain laptops and a 3D printer which will be available for the students to create new objects they already know.
