Granted, it is better than nothing, but was it really good healthcare? The constant bloodbaths at the coliseum caused illness that the poor healthcare could not combat.

Strong Military
Rome had a strong military and was the main enemy in the Mediterranean until its collapse. Rome had one of the best armies in the ancient world.

Rome had an education system, something you probably couldn't get elsewhere.

Rome had many good parts, but it had too many flaws. Rome contributed so much to modern culture, and without rome, I think that earth would be much different. In conclusion, rome was an ancient metropolis and without it, the world would be much different.
