Janie and Tea Cake By:Donovan Anthony
:unlock: After Tea Cake dies she is back to being single
How does she feel about that? Reread the last paragraph of the novel. - She remembers the day he died, and decided he isn't dead until she dies. She really is in peace at the end of the book.
Great critical thinking here.
Janie is proved wrong that it is not all about age. "But he done showed me where it's de thought dat makes de difference in ages."(Hurtson 115).
:<3: Tea Cake and Janie worked out better than her other marriages.
Which symbol relates to that? :lock: :
Janie's hair can relate to this relationship because Tea Cake was combing through her hair, and it made Janie feel comfortable.
Why is that important? What does her hair symbolize? How is this different from how Joe saw her hair? You are so close here. Dig in! - Janie's hair symbolizes beauty. Joe was telling her how to wear her hair because it was attracting other men. Tea Cake was attracted by her hair, and he wanted to comb through it.
The Horizon can relate to the relationship because she was trying find happiness and love in her marriages then she finally fell in love with Tea Cake.
Which symbol best represents her relationship with Tea Cake? :checkered_flag:

Tea Cake had rabies
The Hurricane can relate because it represents a new beginning. She buried Tea Cake in Palm Beach when he passed away.
So what is her new beginning? Develop this more. You are on the right track.
Deeply in love when he made her comfortable
At the beginning Janie had begun to doubt his love for her.
Pleased
Her friend convinced her not to talk to Tea Cake but she already made up her mind. "Still and all Ah'd ruther be wid Tea Cake." (Hurtson 113)
"Tea Cake was spending and doing out of his own pocket, so Janie never told him about the two hundred dollars she had pinned inside er shirt next to her skin." (Hurston 117) She brought the money just in case things didn't work out.
The idea of voice relates to this because in her other two marriages she didn't have any voice. She wasn't her own person in her other marriages. When she met Tea Cake, She has voice now because she found her true love.
