There are many levels of leadership and many characteristics that make individuals successful in those positions. Despite conventional thinking, someone doesn't need a title to be a leader in innovation. Below I've stratified the levels of leadership and the characteristics that are most important - however, this by no means these characteristics are exclusively reserved to these levels. Innovative leaders are found throughout the organizational continuum and it's important that they have regular, productive interactions in order to optimize innovation strategy. There are far too many links/connections to sufficiently represent them, so you'll find summarized descriptions of how, at their best, theses cross-continuum connections are designed.
