Proxemics
Proxemics refers to the study of how space and distance influence communication. We only need look at the ways in which space shows up in common metaphors to see that space, communication, and relationships are closely related.
Proxemic Distances
Although our bubbles are invisible, people are socialized into the norms of personal space within their cultural group. Scholars have identified four zones for US Americans, which are public, social, personal, and intimate distance.

Territoriality
Territoriality is an innate drive to take up and defend spaces. This drive is shared by many creatures and entities, ranging from packs of animals to individual humans to nations.
Secondary territories don’t belong to us and aren’t exclusively under our control, but they are associated with us, which may lead us to assume that the space will be open and available to us when we need it without us taking any further steps to reserve it.
Public territories are open to all people. People are allowed to mark public territory and use it for a limited period of time, but space is often up for grabs, which makes public space difficult to manage for some people and can lead to conflict.
Chronemics
Chronemics refers to the study of how time affects communication. Time can be classified into several different categories, including biological, personal, physical, and cultural time.
Personal time refers to the ways in which individuals experience time. The way we experience time varies based on our mood, our interest level, and other factors.

this section will outline the use of gestures, head movements and posture, eye contact, and facial expressions as nonverbal communication.
Personal connection: Every time our family goes to the supermarket, I forgot what the name of the product I want to buy. So I always use gesture to let other people know what I am thinking. It is kind of Gestures illustrator. For another example, when I was in high school. We played a game called "eagle catch chicken." My friend felt very uncomfortable in this game. Because there was a lot of accident touch. It is kind of Haptics's touch.
Much research has supported the universality of a core group of facial expressions: happiness, sadness, fear, anger, and disgust. The first four are especially identifiable across cultures.

Curiosity Questions:
1: Proxemics is the most attractive topic for me. The reason is that I really care about my own privacy. This is my first time to see what the specific distance of the space, it makes me want to understand more.
2: The Personal Presentation and Environment idea confused me. Because of the paragraph mentions some stereotype, I do not think that it is fit in the modern society. Like now, the world is a big family. I never think that appearance influence almost all my feeling. This example I don't agree. So that I am confused about The Personal Presentation and Environment idea.
